I just returned from a mayoral forum hosted by the First Baptist Church on Village Drive here in Lexington. Let me first say, thank you to the church, congregation and community for the opportunity and secondly I thought it was a well organized event.
There were representatives from the NAACP, H.O.P.E, Focus on Leadership and the Lexington School Board among others.
However, no other mayoral candidate showed up besides myself. I had been invited to attend this event several months ago and had been told that one of my opponents, John Walser, would be attending.
Mr. Walser choose not to attend, citing that, "it was not in his best interest." To my knowledge there were no scheduling conflicts, especially since it has been planned for nearly 2 months.
When will the citizens actually get to hear from my opponent?
How can you lead if no one knows your plan, John?
