Yesterday I attended the ground breaking for the new Religious Service Center at the Lexington prison. I have been serving on a steering committee made up of several citizens throughout Davidson County to help raise funds for this facility. We are about to reach our goal; however, we have raised enough funds to get the project started and we are on our way.
This center will help educate (GEDs, educational workshops, etc.) inmates as well as provide them with a place to worship. The goal is to help them transition back into the community as productive citizens.
Thank you to Max Walser and my grandfather, Ardell Lanier, for co-chairing this project and also thank you to all my fellow committee members. Well done.
